The woman’s 4 X 400 meter were disqualified after it was discovered that Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie stepped on the line in the first leg. The event was run by Sheniqua ‘Q’ Ferguson, Shanuae Miller, Cache Armbrister and Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie who had taken first in their heat until the violation was discovered.
After the women’s team couldn’t pull through all hope was placed on the men’s 4 X 100 meter team. Adrian Griffith, Warren Fraser, Jamial Rolle and Shavez Hart ran a 38.70 which shattered the national record but was not able to place this year in Moscow.
The men’s 4 X 400 team suffered huge losses after Mackey got disqualified for a doping violation and Derrick Atkins suffered a back injury training.
This is the first time since 1993 that the Bahamian team has not taken a medal in the championships.
