Minister of Health Dr. Perry Gomez Defends PLP – July 17, 2013
Gomez cannot recall when he and several other party members of the Progressive Liberal Party visited Nygard Cay but said it was before the general election.
“I was invited to a barbecue or something like that. I can’t remember when…It was before the elections and that was my time there, and a number of PLP MPs to be were there at the time.” Gomez said.
Gomez said that the fact the FNM makes accusations that the PLP is compromised due to ties with Nygard is “ridiculous”.
Many of the FNM members believe that due to the ties with Nygard many of the PLP members have pushed certain mandates to pay back special interest groups who reportedly funded the PLP during the general election.
“It is just ridiculous….That is all I would say to that. There has been no influence by any outsider on what we have done in the last 14 months since coming to office.” Gomez said.
He also denied that Nygard has any influence on the future of stem cell research in The Bahamas.
