After being adrift for over 30 hours, a Coast Guard helicopter picked up three fishermen near Crooked Island. Their boat had been damaged in rough waters while sailing from Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The men activated a rescue beacon and set off flares so the Coast Guard could accurately pinpoint their location.
Officials reportedly called this rescue, “perfect” because the men took all the proper steps and had the right equipment to alert crews of their location. The fishermen were taken safely back to Providenciales shortly after being rescued.
