Chief Climatological Officer Michael Stubbs warns Bahamians that tropical storm Chantal will be impacting The Bahamas this upcoming Thursday. Chantal is expected to be a category 1 hurricane and Stubbs recommends that all Bahamians keep an eye out for advisories as the storm approaches.
Stubbs warns, “We would advise residents currently to continue to pay attention to these advisories as they are issued from the Department of Meteorology, and to do what is necessary as they would do each year during the tropical Atlantic season.”
Chantal is expected to hit the southern edge of The Bahamas by early 8 a.m. on Thursday. The storm is moving at approximately 24 miles per hour and has a maximum sustained wind of 40 miles per hour.
Bahamians are advised to stay inside and seek shelter while the storm passes.
